CHARLES THORNTON, Field / Segment Producer
Charles was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and earned his B.S. and M.A. Degrees in journalism from Kent State University.  As a graduate student, he produced the independent documentary 2,000 Miles North, which profiled the lives of illegal immigrants from Guatemala living in rural Ohio's Tuscarawas County.  The documentary was selected for the 2006 Ohio Independent Film Festival and is still shown on high school and college campuses in the Buckeye State.

After relocating to the New York area and briefly working for an incredibly mismanaged (and incredibly broke) independent film company, Charles spent two years refining his craft at mtvU.  Lovingly known as “production boot camp,” Charles had the chance to write, shoot, produce and edit dozens of projects.  From there, he got the call to the big leagues to work on the True Life series on MTV.

In his spare time, Charles likes spending time walking his dog, Mick, and torturing himself by hopelessly supporting the Cleveland sports teams.
